Prayer Letter

January 2026

We are in Anchorage, Alaska! It is often said that people who move to Alaska are either running to something or running from something. As a missionary, I cannot place myself in either category. I am running, however, I am running for Someone. We thank the Lord for His calling in our lives.

We touched down here on the first of this month and were able to get into our “new” vehicle right away. There have been a few difficulties with the doors due to the colder-than-usual temperatures. The locking mechanism has frozen inside the door, so we will be changing the window seals soon to keep moisture out and prevent this in the future. Overall, though, I am very happy with the SUV. It is a 1999 model, and to my surprise, it has a carburetor. The

engine is simple and easy to work on, it’s perfect for the bush villages. The Lord knows our needs and provides!

We have regularly been in –10 to –20 degree weather, and I thank the Lord for the opportunity to truly test our winter gear. I followed the advice of several friends already living in the state, and the gear is working perfectly. I have no doubt it will serve us well in the village.

he people here seem to be either very rude or incredibly kind, with very few in between. I suppose living in such an extreme place leaves little room for mediocrity. That said, most people are friendly. As you walk through stores,

it is not uncommon to hear a “Hello, how are you?” from other customers. People are far more talkative here, which is a rarity in much of the U.S.

We are blessed to have church meetings in this part of the country. We are excited to see what God will do. The Lord has provided several meetings while we are here, and we are looking forward to meeting these churches.

We have a flight scheduled for February 9th to head back to Tennessee. Please pray for us as we travel in the North Country.
